About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the CALHN Pharmacy Manufacturing team as the Senior Pharmacist Team Leader. CALHN Pharmacy is the largest manufacturing service in the SA public system, with a broad range of products and opportunities available for a motivated, organised and engaging Team Leader.
As the Senior Pharmacist Team Leader, you will provide strategic and operational leadership to a team of pharmacists, assistants, technicians and administrative staff, ensuring the consistent delivery of a high-quality and patient-centred pharmacy service. You will guide and mentor your team to implement Medication Management directives, policies and procedures, while acting as a key point of contact for clinicians and service units requiring pharmacy support. Your leadership will help maintain safe, efficient and effective medication practices across your designated area.
In this leadership role, you will foster a cooperative and supportive workplace culture, whilst overseeing staff training, competency development, and performance reviews, ensuring your team is equipped to deliver best-practice outcomes. You will also lead practice reviews, contribute to departmental policy development, and manage a dedicated portfolio that supports service improvement across the entire pharmacy service. Working closely with fellow team leaders and the Deputy Directors of Pharmacy, you will champion Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Advanced Pharmacy Australia (AdPha) Standards of Practice and uphold all legal and regulatory requirements to support safe, cost-effective drug therapy that enhances patient care.
Prior hospital pharmacy manufacturing experience, including cytotoxic/aseptic compounding skills, is highly valuable.
About You
You are an accomplished and forward-thinking pharmacy professional who brings strong leadership capability, excellent communication skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred pharmaceutical services. With extensive experience in hospital pharmacy and a proactive, adaptable approach, you excel in complex environments and are confident guiding teams, driving service improvements and managing competing priorities with professionalism and accuracy.
- Educational/Vocational Qualifications – Bachelor of Pharmacy or equivalent, and registered (or eligible for registration) with the Pharmacy Board of Australia.
- Personal Abilities/Aptitudes/Skills – Exceptional communication and public relations skills; ability to work independently and under broad direction; adaptable, resilient and skilled in change management; strong organisational, time-management and analytical skills; proven problem-solving capability; and the ability to lead, supervise, train and support staff across multidisciplinary settings.
- Experience – Extensive experience in hospital pharmacy practice, with demonstrated leadership, management or supervisory experience within multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Knowledge – Strong professional and technical knowledge of pharmacy practice, medication management and contemporary pharmacy services, supported by comprehensive understanding of relevant codes of practice and professional standards.
