About the role
Peiris Group is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Head of Legal & Commercial to provide strategic legal leadership across our privately held family office. This role supports the Directors by overseeing all legal, commercial and governance matters across a diverse portfolio of businesses, investments and philanthropic initiatives.
This is a part‑time position (0.6–0.8 FTE) based in Perth, with hybrid flexibility and occasional domestic and international travel. While the role is part‑time, some flexibility is required to assist with urgent or time‑sensitive legal matters.
What you'll be doing
* Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a range of commercial contracts, agreements and legal documents
* Providing clear, accurate and pragmatic legal advice on corporate, commercial and regulatory matters
* Identifying, assessing and mitigating legal and operational risks across the Group
* Conducting legal and commercial due diligence on acquisitions, mergers, investments and partnerships
* Evaluating governance, structural and compliance requirements for new ventures and business opportunities
* Supporting key transactions, restructures, business initiatives and group‑wide projects
* Maintaining legal policies, templates, registers and compliance frameworks
* Monitoring relevant legislation, regulatory changes and industry developments
* Working collaboratively with Directors, CEOs, advisors and internal teams to ensure legal compliance and sound governance
* Contributing to the ongoing optimisation, stability and growth of the Peiris Group portfolio
* Maintaining strict confidentiality, discretion and professionalism at all times
What we're looking for
* Admitted solicitor with substantial post‑admission experience
* Extensive background in corporate and commercial law, ideally gained in‑house or at a reputable commercial firm
* Strong commercial acumen with the ability to provide business‑focused, solutions‑oriented legal advice
* Excellent drafting, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
* Proactive, adaptable and able to manage complex matters across multiple entities
* Collaborative team player with the ability to work autonomously when required
* Exceptional organisational ability and attention to detail
* High emotional intelligence, professionalism and sound judgement
* Confidence liaising with senior leaders, external advisers and key stakeholders
