The Infection Prevention and Control team at Townsville University Hospital leads strategies to prevent healthcare-associated infections across the Townsville Hospital and Health Service (HHS).
Our multidisciplinary team delivers education, surveillance, and evidence-based practices to safeguard patients and staff in hospitals, aged care, and community facilities.

Competitive salary and benefits
Salary between $***** – $***** per hour (Nurse Grade 6, Band 1).
4 to 6 weeks p.a. recreational leave with *******% loading.

About your opportunity
As a Clinical Nurse in Infection Prevention and Control, you will provide expert advice, education, and leadership to reduce infection risks and improve patient outcomes.
This role involves collaboration across clinical teams, participation in quality improvement initiatives, and supporting compliance with national safety standards.
Requirements
Bachelor of Nursing and current AHPRA registration.
Highly Desirable:A graduate certificate or greater with a named infection control course is highly desirable.
Where the successful applicant does not currently hold this qualification, commitment to completion of post graduate study would be encouraged.
Credentialed status (or willingness to undertake and complete the requirements) with the Australian College for Infection Prevention and Control within 12 months of commencement.
Immunisation qualification recognised in Queensland will be well regarded.
Evidence of vaccination against Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD).
Ability to travel across the HHS and participate in on-call roster.
Current Class C driver licence.
A probationary period may apply.
