About the Role
The opportunity involves working directly with Partner Hannes Marais, who has an extensive background in all areas of insurance law and acting as defense counsel for professional insureds.
The role offers exposure to a broad range of complex and interesting matters spanning construction and engineering, financial lines, general professional indemnity, and warranty & indemnity (W&I) supporting domestic and overseas insurers in both defense of claims as well as coverage.

Responsibilities
Defending litigated claims against professionals including engineers, certifiers and other construction professionals, accountants, valuers, and barristers.
Advising on coverage and monitoring of claims against professional insureds for both Australian and London based underwriters.
Advising clients on policy coverage issues and quantum across various types of insurance, from mid-size losses to large and complex claims.
Drafting and reviewing policy wordings and providing advice on areas of legal risk for clients.
Assisting in managing and building client relationships, including assisting with business development activities for key existing clients and new clients.
About You
You enjoy working as part of a dynamic and collaborative team, and you will be an established Associate level lawyer in Australia, New Zealand or overseas, particularly the UK.
A strong litigation background gained from a leading private practice law firm.
Ideally exposure to some or all of the types of matters detailed above.
Strong academic credentials, self-driven with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong time-management skills and ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to work independently.
Commercial awareness and desire to grow and develop under the guidance of the Partner and senior lawyers to build rapport with clients.
Desire to work in a positive team and office atmosphere.
