Job Overview
The Aged and Disability Care Program provides culturally appropriate services to assist frail aged and younger people with disabilities living in the Darwin region. Our focus is on promoting independence and wellbeing, while also serving non-indigenous clients.
Services Offered
* Meals at home are prepared and delivered to clients who require assistance with nutrition;
* Centre-based activities, including outings and day trips, promote social interaction and capacity for independent living;
* Transportation services are coordinated or provided individually;
* Social support assists clients with community connections and access to facilities and services;
* Personal care includes assistance with eating, bathing, toileting, dressing, grooming, and mobility;
* Domestic assistance helps with cleaning, dishwashing, clothes washing and ironing, shopping, and bill paying.
Requirements and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary range starting at $41.57 per hour, casual hours only. Additionally, we have a dedicated employee assistance program and excellent training and development opportunities.
Key Selection Criteria
* Previous experience in a similar role and Certificate III (or higher) in Aged Care & Disability is required;
* A knowledge of Aboriginal culture and the issues affecting Aboriginal people in the Northern Territory is essential;
* Ability to work independently, exercise initiative, and demonstrate good time management and organisational skills is crucial;
* Demonstrated interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are necessary to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues;
* Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, and evening shifts is required;
* Current NT Driver's License (C Class) is mandatory;
* Understanding of cultural protocols and willingness to work respectfully in accordance with Larrakia and other Indigenous cultures is essential.
