- Salary: $76,926 - $81,572 per annum plus 15.4% superannuation

The Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) is Australia's national criminal intelligence agency. We advise senior decision makers on serious and organised crime impacting Australia. We are a full member of the National Intelligence Community, an Attorney General's Portfolio agency, and a member of the Five Eyes Law Enforcement Group.

**About the branch**
The Legal Services branch provides a broad range of legal services to all business areas within the ACIC. Key services provided by the Legal Services Branch include:

- Strategic legal advice to the CEO and senior executive
- Operational legal services in support of ACIC special investigations and special operations, and providing specialist legal advice on the ACIC's coercive powers
- Working with the Ministerial and Executive Support Team on government reviews and to develop and respond to law reform initiatives, including new law reform proposals and review of bills
- Providing legal support to operational teams including in obtaining search warrants, controlled operations, telephone intercept and surveillance device warrants
- Statutory interpretation of the Australian Crime Commission Act 2002 and other legislation relevant to the exercise of function of the ACIC
- Providing legal advice in relation to information disclosure, including legal review of disclosure checklists
- Providing legal and probity advice in relation to major procurement projects
- Providing advice about contract law, contractual disputes, contract management, non-contractual agreements (MOUs), employment and property law (leasing), privacy and intellectual property.

**About the role**
The Internal Policy team provides high level policy advice to executives and senior executives and status reports to committees. This advice is across a range of areas from Operational domains to specialist capabilities, corporate areas and the ACIC's coercive powers, in support of ACIC functions.

The Internal Policy Officer is responsible for meeting the Chief Executive's expectations as the Agency's reporting mechanism for maintaining currency of all the ACIC internal policies. The successful applicant will work effectively independently and constructively within a team.

The Internal Policy Officer will also be responsible for assisting the Assistant Director to maintain the ACIC's internal policy framework to ensure that the ACIC is operating in accordance with applicable legislation and policies.
- Will be a self-starter who can work under limited supervision, with strong team skills, the ability to transfer knowledge and contribute to team/organisational outcomes.
- Demonstrates experience in internal policy development, or a like discipline, and stakeholder engagement.
- Displays excellent attention to detail and the ability to clearly communicate findings through preparation of written reports to executives and senior stakeholders.
- Has the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders at all levels, within and outside the team.
- Is highly organised with exceptional prioritisation skills to meet deadlines and manage competing tasks.

**Desirable qualifications**
- Tertiary qualifications or extensive experience in policy writing, legal drafting particularly internal policy, media and communications will be an advantage.

- The Australian community expects ACIC employees to maintain the highest levels of security and integrity. Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain, or continue to hold, the required security clearance for this role. All ACIC employees are required to hold a minimum Negative Vetting 1 security clearance, unless otherwise specified.
