About the Opportunity


Reporting to the Companion Animal Business Unit Director and within the framework of the CA Business Unit, this position is responsible for the dynamic and engaging leadership, management, coaching, and development of the Regional Sales Managers and Key Account Managers. The role is paramount in overseeing the Management of People within the Commercial division, ensuring the creation, development, and retention of an aligned, high-performing, motivated team. The National Business Manager will foster a professional and positive "Closer to customer" relationship with distribution partners and key accounts, which in turn achieves efficient operations, strong client relationships, and sustainable growth within key accounts and regions, contributing to the overall success and profitability of the company. This role collaborates with the CA Business Unit Leadership Team to unite the BU in aligning people, resources, and objectives. The role has numerous cross-functional relationships, which may impact the job's activities, with internal departments including Commercial, Marketing, Technical, Finance, HR, IT, Supply Chain, Senior Management, and Pacific teams, as well as external stakeholders such as Customers (Store, Clinic, Wholesaler, End User), Advisors, and Business Consultants. Regular travel is a necessary component of this national role.


What You'll Be Accountable For:

* Commercial Leadership & Strategy: Focus on strategy, planning, and representing functional interests at the Commercial Leadership level to achieve shared business objectives.
* Leadership of People: Lead, develop, and retain an aligned, high-performing team by managing recruitment, providing coaching, and contributing to succession planning.
* Sales Performance: Achieve gross sales and margin budgets, set objectives, and oversee commercial strategies for Regional and Area Sales Managers.
* Account Management: Build strong, effective business relationships with distribution partners and manage company representation at national conferences.
* Salesforce Effectiveness: Develop strategies for Sales Optimization, manage the CRM program, and monitor market activity to inform planning.
* Continuous Improvement: Challenge processes, propose improvements, and optimize conditions for continuous progress.


To be Successful in this role, you will have:

* Required Experience & Education:

* Minimum 5 years as a manager of a sales team at the national level.

* At least 5-8 years of industry experience or equivalent.
* Proven track record in Sales Management, Team Management and Key Account Management experience are required.
* Experience in selling Animal Health products within the industry is desirable, not essential.
* Tertiary qualifications in leadership and/or business (example MBA), agriculture, vet industry, business, and/or leadership are desirable.
* A current and valid driver's license is required.

* Job-Related Skills (Know-how):

* Expertise in sales management and team management skills and experience.

* Knowledge of the Australian veterinary, equine, and animal health products is preferred.
* Use of market analysis, competitor monitoring, financial management tools, and techniques.
* Validated skills in strategic thinking, negotiation, and influence. (The role requires 5-7 essential skills, including these.)
* IT proficiency: MS Office, Lotus Notes, and CRM.
* Management of EHS compliance.
* Interpersonal Skills (Behaviour):

* Strong team leadership and ability to communicate clearly in one voice.

* Strong ability to build a trustworthy environment.
