The role is permanent and reports directly to our Chief Underwriter.About the roleAs a Senior Underwriting Consultant, you will support the Chief Underwriter in developing underwriting services for clients, along with participating in training, research, marketing, and project initiatives.Duties and Responsibilities:Undertake day-to-day line underwriting.Assess referrals from ceding offices promptly and accurately.Assess Group Life business efficiently.Assist the Chief Medical Officer and underwriting team to ensure consistency in assessment standards and service delivery.Follow Hannover Life Re underwriting philosophies and procedures.Conduct or participate in underwriting reviews on treaty clients.Complete and participate in project work.Assist Claims with Retro underwriting activities.Identify errors and opportunities for improvement.Participate in delivering training to ceding offices.Support marketing activities to enhance brand awareness.Build engagement with clients, understanding their needs and responding appropriately.Work with your team to identify opportunities for process improvements.Keep business processes up to date.About You:Experience & Qualifications:Significant industry experience in underwriting.Degree qualified or equivalent professional qualifications (e.g., ALUCA, ANZIFF), or working towards them.Strong technical skills in medical and financial risk analysis.Thorough knowledge of life insurance and market dynamics.People and relationship management skills.Strategic thinking and planning capabilities.Excellent organization, attention to detail, and prioritization skills.Effective written and verbal communication skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and in a team.Advanced MS Office skills.Ability to meet deadlines and deliver results.Personal Qualities:Strategic, resourceful, self-motivated, professional, versatile, diplomatic.Applicants must have unlimited rights to work in Australia (Australian citizen or permanent resident).What We Offer:Our values include Responsibility, Drive, and We-Spirit.
