Aquatic Ecologist
The role involves assessing the impact of human activities on freshwater ecosystems, with a focus on infrastructure and mining projects.
We are seeking an experienced Aquatic Ecologist to join our team, requiring relevant tertiary qualifications and field experience.
Possessing excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills, you will advise clients and stakeholders on environmental frameworks and project approval pathways.
Key responsibilities include:
* Conducting assessments of surface and groundwater quality, aquatic ecology, sediment quality/toxicity, and eco-toxicity.
* Providing expert advice on water and environmental legislation, federal and state.
* Maintaining relationships with clients, government, and regulatory bodies.
* Contributing to projects, including preparation and review of proposals, resource management, risk assessment, and health and safety.
This role offers varied work, involving:
* Fieldwork and consultancy reporting for environmental assessments.
* Developing and implementing strategies for environmental approvals.
* Maintaining partnerships with clients, government, and other stakeholders.
* Collaborating on projects, including proposal development, resource allocation, risk mitigation, and health and safety protocols.
The ideal candidate will have:
* Experience in environmental approvals for major infrastructure projects.
* A working understanding of water and environmental legislation.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
* Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or Engineering.
