Job Overview:
Environmental Health Coordinator
This role is responsible for conducting scheduled inspections of licensed premises, providing guidance and coaching to direct reports, and delivering an efficient public health service.
* Carry out routine inspections of food premises, swimming pools, skin penetration facilities, and onsite sewage management systems.
* Investigate complaints related to environmental health issues and take regulatory action as required by legislation.
* Provide detailed assessments of development applications in relation to environmental health requirements.
Key Objectives:
* Ensure the delivery of high-quality public health services through efficient inspections and complaint handling.
* Develop and implement strategies to improve compliance with environmental health regulations.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to raise awareness of community safety matters and inform them of relevant legislative and policy changes.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Applied Science (Environmental Health) or equivalent qualification, have considerable experience as an Environmental Health Officer, and excellent communication skills.
Requirements:
* Bachelor of Applied Science (Environmental Health) or equivalent qualifications acceptable for membership of the Australian Institute of Environmental Health.
* Considerable experience as an Environmental Health Officer or similar position.
* Extensive technical skills and expertise in interpreting relevant Local Government, Public Health and Environmental Legislation.
* Excellent customer service, negotiation, written and verbal communication skills and conflict resolution.
* Experience in supervision, training, mentoring and coaching staff.
* Current NSW Driver's Licence - Class C.
