The Role
Network Steel is seeking an experienced and proactive Safety Manager to lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety systems across our operations. Based full-time at our Cleveland QLD site, working across various sites (Cleveland, Stapylton, Morningside, Kunda Park), you will play a key role in embedding a strong, accountable safety culture while ensuring effective risk management and compliance across the business.
Reporting to the Head of HR & Safety, you will partner closely with leaders to strengthen safety capability, drive continuous improvement, and ensure our people go home safe to their families every day.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Systems Design & Continuous Improvement
* Design, implement, and continuously improve integrated safety management systems
* Establish standards, procedures, and controls aligned with operational risk profiles
* Monitor system effectiveness through audits, data analysis, and feedback loops
Safety Culture & Leadership Development
* Develop and implement initiatives that build a proactive and high-performing safety culture
* Coach and mentor leaders to strengthen safety capability and accountability
* Promote visible leadership and engagement across all levels
* Oversee incident management processes including reporting, investigation, and corrective actions
* Support and guide leaders to ensure quality and consistency in investigations
* Analyse incident trends and risk data to inform preventative strategies
Compliance & Governance
* Ensure compliance with all relevant OHS/WHS legislation and standards
* Manage audits, inspections, and regulatory interactions
* Provide expert advice on compliance obligations and organisational risk
Key Criteria
* Proven experience in safety management systems design and implementation
* Strong knowledge of OHS/WHS legislation and regulatory frameworks
* Demonstrated ability to influence, coach, and develop leaders at all levels
* Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
* Experience in incident investigation (ICAM) and risk management
* Experience with developing safety initiatives
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* Experience within manufacturing or heavy industry environments
* Experience working across operational environments
