About Us

Grand Pacific Health is a not-for-profit, primary health care organisation providing locally-tailored, high-quality services. Our services focus on physical health, mental health, youth health, Aboriginal health, and chronic disease management. We cover a large region including South Eastern NSW, the A.C.T, and Murrumbidgee.

headspace offers support to young people aged 12-25 experiencing mild to moderate or emerging mental health issues. Our multidisciplinary team works to improve health, social, and vocational/educational outcomes for young people.

About The Position

The Elders in Residence program is a partnership between GPH Aboriginal health team and headspace Goulburn and Yass. The aim is to support engagement for Aboriginal people in GPH programs by providing safe, appropriate, and inclusive services. Reporting to the Service Manager for Goulburn and Yass, the Cultural Leader will receive supervision and support from the Aboriginal Health team.

The Cultural Leader will provide advice and support to staff at headspace Goulburn and Yass and the wider GPH teams. They will also work directly with young people to develop connections between local Aboriginal young people and their community, and to support engagement with the headspace Centre, work, and study opportunities.

What You'll Need
* Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and be an active member within the Aboriginal communities of the Goulburn and Yass Valley region and surrounding areas.
* Certificate IV in Aboriginal Primary Health Care or a health-related discipline, or willingness to work towards it.
* Demonstrated understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal people and their health, with the ability to engage and communicate sensitively to address their health needs.
* Experience in developing and maintaining successful partnerships with Aboriginal organisations and communities.
