The Management Accountant is a key member of the Asset Management BU providing a comprehensive business analysis and management accounting service by supporting internal decision-making through the provision of financial insights, analysis and guidance ensuring the BU achieves Its strategic and operational goals.
The role is responsible for developing and managing the capital, inventory and operating expenditure budget process. A significant challenge of the role Is providing the BU with education and support around budget allocation, purchase order and cost benefit analysis processes. A major focus of the role Is the preparation of monthly financial reports for Internal and external stakeholders, which requires the extraction, Interpretation and reporting of relevant financial data. The role requires a depth of commercial and financial acumen relating to capital and operating budgets and Is critical In ensuring the business makes informed financial decisions.
Key accountabilities include:
· Ensuring achievement of capital budget management objectives.
· Contributing to the review of financial targets and plans.
· Provision of advice, guidance and recommendations around business practices to enhance business outcomes.
· Influencing stakeholders around adherence to correct processes and accounting standards when developing budget input data.
· Coaching managers and other stakeholders regarding effective budget management and engagement In cost benefit analysis.
· Proactive approach to personnel and workplace safety, environment and quality, ensuring compliance with company systems, standards and procedures.
Role Requirements
Candidates for the role will be able to demonstrate the following attributes:
Knowledge
· Tertiary qualifications in accounting, business, financial management or a related field.
· Knowledge and experience In the application of budget frameworks and Integrated financial systems.
Skills
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage, Influence and educate stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
· A high level of skills In preparing budgets and predicting future performance and risk.
· The ability to Interpret financial data, Identify trends and provide insights.
· The ability to compare actual versus budget data to Interpret and explain deviations.
· Proficiency In building financial models to support decision making.
· Critical and analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
Experience
· Experience In business operations and costing systems for medium to large sized organisations, preferably In the resources or manufacturing Industry.
· Experience in development and management of operating and capital budgets.
