About The Role

Council's Community Engagement team thrives in a fast paced, positive working environment. We have a knack for adapting to the needs of customers, both internal and external, and set the standard for planning and delivering high quality engagement programs.

We care about ensuring young people participate in Council's decision making and work toward achieving the aspirations of young people in a transparent, inclusive, equitable and collaborative way. We have a great team culture and strive to share the load, creating trusting professional relationships with open communication and dialogue.

The Youth Officer role is dynamic and collaborative, ensuring the voice of young people is amplified. It involves planning, delivering and reporting on interactive and engaging school holiday, engagement and after‐school programmes, annual Youth Week events, health and wellbeing programs and coordination of the Clarence Youth Network.

This is a jointly funded role with the Department of Communities and Justice and is offered as a full‐time, fixed‐term contract until 30 June 2027.

To be considered for this position you will need to:

* Address the essential requirements of the role as per position description.
* Supply relevant certificates and licences.
* Attach a cover letter (2 pages maximum) and an up‐to‐date resume (5 pages maximum) that clearly details your skills and experience relevant to this position, demonstrating how you meet the focus capabilities and how your skills will enable you to achieve the key accountabilities.
* Answer the target questions – maximum 300 words each. Q1. What different approaches have you used in talking with different people? How did you know you were getting your point across? Please provide an example including the outcome. Q2. Tertiary or Certificate III in appropriate discipline; or equivalent relevant industry experience (please attach qualification into supporting documents, or explain your relevant industry experience including number of years). Q3. Select a piece of work or a project and describe how you organised your work to achieve a particular outcome, what it was and how you did it.

Other Important Information

This position is located at Council's Grafton office; however, this may change should business needs identify other work locations to better deliver our services in the future.

A probation period applies to this position.
