The candidate must be an Australian citizen and be eligible for a security clearance.
About the role:
EOS Space Systems is currently seeking 2 Mechanical Engineers to work in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary engineering environment to execute verification and validation activities. The role requires a strong fundamental knowledge of general mechanical engineering practices as well as hands-on experience with large scale structures.
Key Responsibilities:
* Structural design and analysis of lasers, optical mounts, telescopes and telescope enclosures.
* Implement retrofits and redesign sub-systems and components for existing EOS telescopes.
* Liaise with suppliers and sub-contractors and manage delivery and installation of designed components to tight timeframes.
* Develop design documentation within the EOS’ systems engineering framework.
* Perform assembly, integration, verification and validation testing of designed components and assemblies.
* Ability to travel for maintenance and upgrade activities.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
* Early (1 – 2 years) or mid (5 years) career experience in a similar role
* Experience in designing large scale metallic and composite structures, servo-drive systems and/or high-accuracy positioning systems. Exposure to opto-mechanical design and telescope systems will be highly regarded
* Ability to analyse and optimise complex opto-mechanical system designs
* Ability to solve complex engineering problems in collaboration with multiple disciplines, under minimal or no supervision
* Knowledge of implementing and testing telescopes, telescope enclosures, positioning systems and servo drives is highly desirable.
Desirable:
* Post graduate qualification in Mechanical Engineerin, Mechatronics or Opto Mechanical Engineering
* Excellent schedule management
* Experience with ISO9001 quality assurance systems
* Experience in a systems engineering framework
