Townsville Hospital and Health Service (THHS) invites applications from Consultant Psychiatrists to join our Adult Mental Health Service Group. This role offers clinical variety, strong professional support, and the lifestyle benefits of living in one of Australia's most dynamic regional centres.
About the Role
You will provide specialist psychiatric care across Adult Community Mental Health Teams and/or the Adult Acute Mental Health Inpatient Unit (AAMHIU). The position includes opportunities for service development, teaching, supervision, and research.
Key responsibilities include:
* Delivering comprehensive psychiatric and somatic assessments, risk assessments, and evidence‐based treatment planning
* Providing clinical leadership and supervision within multidisciplinary teams
* Working collaboratively with families, carers, and partner agencies
* Contributing to registrar and medical student education, as well as research activity within THHS
* Participating in the after‐hours on‐call roster
* Working towards ECT accreditation and contributing to ECT service delivery

The Mental Health Service Group delivers integrated, recovery‐focused care across inpatient, community, and outreach settings. You will join a collegial team of psychiatrists, registrars, nurses, allied health clinicians, and peer workers, supported by strong clinical governance and a collaborative consultant group.
What We Offer
* Remuneration package up to AUD $534,040 p.a. (f/t) (L18-L27)

Requirements
* Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP), or equivalent specialist qualifications eligible for AHPRA specialist registration
* Commitment to ongoing professional development
* Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
Internationally trained psychiatrists eligible for RANZCP Specialist Assessment are encouraged to apply.
