Explore the cutting-edge field of biochemical information extraction, a key area in deep learning research.

* We are seeking a talented PhD student to develop novel approaches to extracting meaningful information from the published scientific literature using machine learning and computational linguistics techniques.

The successful candidate will join our world-class team at the University of Melbourne, working under Associate Professor Karin Verspoor and Dr Trevor Cohn. They will have access to substantial full-text literature for practical applications and collaborate with leading experts in the field.

The ideal candidate has a strong undergraduate honours degree in Computer Science or a related field, with prior experience in research projects, good communication and writing skills, and a willingness to learn and collaborate.

This PhD studentship focuses on relation and event extraction, co-reference resolution, and semantics analysis of tables from the published scientific literature. The successful candidate will acquire expertise in the biochemical domain or expand existing knowledge in biology or chemistry.

As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in natural language processing, machine learning, and deep learning, as well as contribute to the advancement of biochemical information extraction.
