ABOUT THE ROLE

The Administration Officer position is responsible for providing administrative support to the Operations' staff and for contributing to the operational objectives of the Operations Department. The position will be responsible for the preparation of financial claims relating to Council's Road Maintenance Performance Contract (RMPC) with the Department of Transport & Main Roads (TMR) and ensuring the availability of supporting documentation.
The position will provide administrative support to other Infrastructure Services functions as required to contribute to the efficient operation of the Directorate.
Employment Status: Part Time, Limited Tenure (up to 12 months)
Award: Level 3 of the Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream A) Award – State 2017
Salary Range: $44.75 per hour.
Hours: Up to 26 hours per week (Wednesday – Friday)
ABOUT YOU
The successful candidate will have:
| Essential Knowledge, skills and abilities |
* Well-developed clerical, administrative and organisational skills, with high attention to detail, the ability to self-manage, determine work priorities, meet deadlines and workflows.
* Demonstrated high level proficiency in the use of desktop software applications including Word, Excel and email systems, and the ability to utilise finance and records management systems, formatting and preparation of documents, letters, reports and formal submissions using Microsoft Suite.
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience with utilising finance record and asset management systems.
* Well-developed interpersonal skills including a high level of verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to liaise and negotiate with a wide range of people.
* Advanced time management, planning and organisational skills. Ability to exercise judgement and initiative where procedures are not clearly defined.
* Ability to work independently or in a team in a professional and positive manner.
| Essential Education/Qualifications |
* Formal qualification in business, finance or similar or demonstrated relevant experience.
| Essential Licences |
* Possession and maintenance of a Queensland 'C' Class Driver Licence
| Physical Requirements / Position Environment |
* This position is primarily an indoor role and requires sufficient physical ability to work in an office setting, which involves prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and operating a computer and telephone. May be required to carry out light to moderate manual handling, bending, kneeling, twisting, squatting, lifting and carrying.
