The Role
Within the Service Delivery Division, the Building Industry Licensing Branch is responsible for assessing, determining and managing a wide range of statutory licensing functions that support safe, professional and compliant building practices across Western Australia. The Branch ensures high‐quality licensing outcomes by delivering timely, customer‐focused services, driving continuous improvement, and upholding the Department's regulatory responsibilities.
As the General Manager Building Industry Licensing, you will lead a complex and high‐profile licensing branch, overseeing operational delivery, statutory decision‐making, workforce capability, and ongoing service enhancements. You will provide authoritative advice to the Director and senior executives, guide strategic planning, and ensure the Branch meets legislative obligations while delivering consistent, efficient and high‐quality licensing services.
Success in this role requires strong strategic leadership, the ability to build and maintain productive relationships, and confidence in engaging with diverse internal and external stakeholders. You will bring extensive experience in regulatory or licensing environments, coupled with demonstrated capability in driving reform, leading operational improvements, and ensuring excellence in service delivery. Coaching, mentoring and developing your leaders and teams will be central to building capability, strengthening performance, and achieving positive outcomes for industry and the community.
