Purpose
The primary emphasis of this role centres around contributing to the achievement of the
Community Wellbeing Unit's objectives, aiming to enhance their strategy and goals through
community development projects. Working within the Projects and Partnerships team and
engagement across sector networks, this position offers a platform for positive outcomes
with and for our community.
Utilising community development principles, the role will support a strategic and
coordinated approach that best addresses identified community priorities. You will partner
with key stakeholders to support new initiatives, existing projects and/or work with partners
to develop solutions to assist in meeting identified community needs. A strong emphasis is
placed on data driven, evidence-based practices and working in partnership.

delivering exceptional service to our community, working diligently to enhance residents'
overall quality of life. Your role will involve a continuous, intelligent, and efficient approach to
your daily responsibilities, upholding the organisation's values and purpose.
Key Deliverables
* Utilise effective research and evaluation practices to direct priority work areas.
* Utilise evidence-based practices to develop partnerships that contribute to
community capacity building.
* Develop partnerships and collaborations that support collective impact outcomes,
initiatives and projects assist in meeting identified needs.
* Participate in relevant networks and forums to inform your work and contribute to
the sector.
* Coordinate the implementation of the Youth Partnerships Program.
* Complete projects within scope, budget and timeline.
* Provide relevant reports when required.
* Provide positive leadership across Council and externally with key stakeholders in the
fostering of Youth Engagement and Community Development approaches.
* Assist the team to fulfil the City of Marion strategic directions and organisational
requirements.
* Support relevant projects and activities that are the responsibility of the Projects and
Partnerships Team where required.

Person Specification
Essential criteria
* A tertiary qualification in Community Development/Youth Development/Population
Health/Public Health or other relevant field.
* Experience in building and maintaining effective relationships and working in
collaboration with key partners across a broad sector (eg: community development,
youth development, disability, access and inclusion).
* Experience participating in or leading sector network initiatives or projects.
* Strong project management skills including research, development, implementation,
and evaluation.
* Proven ability understanding effective youth and community engagement and
capacity building methods and/or
* Experience utilising community development and youth specific models of practice.
* Demonstrate strong communication skills, verbal and written.
* Skills utilising Microsoft software suite and relevant IT systems.
* Adhere to reporting requirements and/or implement plans and strategies.
* Proficient in time management, prioritisation, and flexibility in managing changing
priorities, workloads and urgent matters.
* Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and display astuteness in a sensitive and
political environment.
* Experience working within a team and the ability to work autonomously, be self-
motivated.
Desirable criteria
* Additional qualifications or accredited training undertaken in relevant fields
* Knowledge of emerging trends in the sector.
* Experience working with cross-functional teams.
* Knowledge of the roles and functions of Local Government
* Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
* Skills in the use of I.C.T. as a communication tool.

* Satisfactory completion of a National Police Clearance (will be arranged by the City of
Marion)
* Satisfactory completion of applicable Medical Assessment (will be arranged by the

* Must be either an Australian resident or possess the legal right to work in Australia,
with the ability to provide documentation of a valid work visa.
* Comply with existing Work, Health and Safety legislation and regulation obligations and
apply "Think Safe Live Well" philosophy.
* Embrace ethical and moral behavior and report any suspected instances of fraud
and/or corruption in accordance with Fraud and Corruption Management and the
Code of Conduct.
* Adhere to the City of Marion Values.
* The incumbent will perform other duties as required.
Other conditions specific to the role
* Must hold a valid, full (unrestricted) driver's license in accordance with South Australian
requirements.
* The position will be based at the City Services site.
* The position responsibilities require a flexible work schedule with some out of hours
required.
* This is a prescribed position as defined by the City of Marion Safe Environments for
Children and Vulnerable Persons Policy. Therefore, incumbent must:
o Promote and maintain a child safe environment and take relevant actions in
accordance with council's Safe Environments for Children and Vulnerable
Persons Policy and with legislative requirements under the Children and Young
People (Safety) Act 2017 and the Child Safety (Prohibited Persons) Act 2016.
o Satisfactorily complete a DHS Working with Children Check (to be renewed
every five years) and be willing to undertake Child Safe Training.
