Overview

Gippsland Grammar is seeking a proactive and experienced Human Resources Manager to lead and manage the School’s HR function. This role is responsible for fostering a positive staff culture, ensuring compliance with employment legislation, and supporting the strategic direction of the School. The position is full-time and located in Gippsland.

Key Responsibilities

- Strategic HR Leadership
- Provide expert HR advice and support to School leaders.
- Align staffing structures with the School’s strategic goals.
- Lead HR compliance, policy development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support enterprise bargaining and manage relationships with unions and staff committees.

- Culture & Staff Development

- Promote a positive and inclusive staff culture.
- Coach and support managers in effective people leadership.
- Facilitate organisational change and staff engagement strategies.
- Lead performance and conduct management processes.

- HR Operations & Administration

- Manage end-to-end recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding.
- Maintain HR systems, databases, and reporting tools.
- Oversee HR budgets, contracts, and visa requirements.
- Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders (e.g., WGEA, ABS).

- Employee Relations

- Provide timely and accurate advice on employment law and industrial instruments.
- Resolve workplace grievances through mediation and conflict resolution.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and HR risk management.

About You

You are a confident and capable HR professional with a robust generalist background and a passion for building positive workplace culture. You bring strategic insight, operational excellence, and a collaborative approach to leadership.

Essential Criteria

- Demonstrated experience in HR leadership, including recruitment, employee relations, and compliance.
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation, industrial instruments, and HR best practices.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport.
- High-level organisational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in HR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Tertiary qualifications in HR or a related field.
