About the Role

School Psychologist - Newling Public School - 0000B6FF. Full Time 1.0 FTE (Full time equivalent). Location: Newling Public School.

School psychologists are an essential part of the Department's school counselling service and work in primary and high schools. They provide counselling and psychological assessment of students, to complement and enhance the work of teachers to strengthen student learning and wellbeing outcomes, and help families understand and manage their children's learning and mental health needs.

This is a collegiate role offering opportunities for professional development and to make an impact on the lives of children and young people.

The successful candidate will be based at Newling Public School and may work across primary and high school aged students, engaging with diverse school communities. This role enables use of skills to support student learning, wellbeing and mental health during important years of development.

Supervision and collaboration: School psychologists receive individual professional supervision with the Senior Psychologist Education and participate in group and peer supervision as part of the school counselling team. You will collaborate with school communities, colleagues and external agencies to utilise the full range of your skills within a multidisciplinary environment.

Newling Public School overview: a progressive school with 172 students, 70% Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background, and a focus on differentiations and collaborative practices to support diverse learners.

Key accountabilities
* Provides counselling and psychological services to students, individually and in groups, including short-term therapeutic interventions under supervision.
* Engages with and implements the Professional Practice Framework for the NSW School Counselling Service.
* Collaborates with the principal, school executive, staff and student support services to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes and implement departmental priorities.
* Contributes to social, emotional, and academic development and supports students with complex behavioural needs.
* Administers cognitive, social, emotional and behavioural assessments; reports results and collaborates to improve outcomes.
* Works with learning and support teams, parents, carers and other agencies to develop school-based support.
* Responds as part of a team to assist schools experiencing serious incidents.
* Refers students and families to external services to support health and wellbeing outcomes.
Essential Requirements
* Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and to upholding the Department's Partnership with the NSW AECG to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
* General or Provisional Psychology Registration with active internship with the Psychology Board of Australia.
* Valid Working with Children Check clearance.
* Current driver's licence and ability to travel between work sites.
* Australian citizenship or permanent residency.

Total Remuneration Package

Package valued up to $182,461 + incentives (where applicable). Base salary ranges from $101,122 - $160,983* plus leave loading and employer's superannuation contribution. Rates above the minimum depend on professional experience. *Note there is no automatic progression to the $160,983 SPAC salary level.
