Your New Role The Accounts Assistant supports the finance function of a busy transport and cold storage business. The role involves handling day-to-day financial transactions, ensuring accurate data entry, reconciling accounts, assisting with payroll and invoicing, and supporting financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of transport and logistics billing processes, be highly organized, and able to work in a fast-paced operational environment. Your Key Responsibilities Process customer invoices for freight and cold storage services Match purchase orders with supplier invoices and process accounts payable Reconcile fuel usage, driver dockets, and vehicle-related expenses Assist in monitoring debtor balances and following up on outstanding payments Reconcile bank and company credit card statements Assist with payroll processing (e.g. timesheets, driver allowances, overtime) Liaise with transport operations and warehouse teams to ensure accurate billing Support end-of-month reporting Maintain organized and accurate accounting records in compliance with company policies What You Will Need To Succeed Certificate or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Business (or working towards) 2–3 years’ experience in an accounting support role, ideally in transport, logistics, or warehousing Understanding of basic payroll and award interpretation is a plus Experience with fleet or warehouse management systems is an advantage Accounts Assistant Experience Familiarity with transport/logistics billing systems and terms (e.g. pallet tracking, load rates, demurrage, etc.) High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry Proficiency in accounting software- Xero Competent with Advanced Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a busy environment Strong communication skills to liaise with drivers, depot managers, and suppliers Team-oriented with a proactive approach to problem solving Shift: Mon to Fri 9AM to 5.30AM Few initial questions we ask candidates On a scale of 1-10 how familiar are you with Xero Software, with 10 being the highest.
