Details: A career opportunity has arisen within ACT Corrective Services (ACTCS) for an experienced, highly motivated, career-oriented person to fill the role of Director, Policy Unit.

The successful applicant will provide strategic leadership ensuring the delivery of strategic policy in support of the continuous improvement and best practice principles of ACTCS.

In collaboration with stakeholders, you will be responsible for reviewing and enhancing operational and strategic policy, procedures and legislation, including response to emerging issues from litigation or critical incidents.

In addition, you will draft briefs, reports, correspondence, speeches and other vehicles of policy advice and provide expert advice in resolving issues with interpretation of legislation and respond to external requests for policy related information.

To be successful, you will be required to demonstrate exceptional communication and interpersonal skills in addition to strong leadership and management skills and an ability to develop and compose complex workplace documents.

Eligibility/Other requirements:

* Relevant qualifications in law or social sciences or prior experience in human services policy development, would be an advantage.
* The successful candidate will be required to undergo a criminal record check.
* Driver’s license is preferred.
* To be eligible for permanent or temporary employment within the ACT Public Service (ACTPS) you must be an Australian citizen, a permanent resident or hold a valid work visa.
* If an officer no longer holds a visa that permits them to work in Australia, their employment with the ACT Public Service (ACTPS) will be terminated.
