The Navy Aviation System Program Office (NASPO) within Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group is responsible for supporting current Navy Aviation capabilities, including the MH-60R Romeo helicopter, and is co-located with the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) Fleet Air Arm (FAA) in the Shoalhaven on the NSW South Coast.

A permanent full-time government employment opportunity is now available for technical practitioners, technicians and/or junior/graduate engineers to support the Royal Australian Navy's MH-60R Romeo helicopter fleet in fulfilling both its' Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) and Maritime Support Helicopter (MSH) roles.

The current position available is for a MH-60R Avionics-Systems Technical Team Lead; however, suitable applicants from specialists fields better suited to other APS6 Technical roles may be placed on a merit list and drawn upon if further APS 6 technical positions (not limited to avionics-systems) become available.

The technical work you undertake will directly fulfil or otherwise contribute to:

- MH-60R Military Type Certificate Holder (MTCH) obligations;
- Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation (CAMO) services obligations;
- Legislative and regulatory compliance obligations, such as WH&S and environmental protection; and
- Other agreed sustainment support activities.

The successful applicant will utilise their technical trade knowledge and experience to manage a range of complex to moderately complex technical tasks, including technical compliance and assurance, in support of the above roles.

In doing so the successful applicant will be relied upon to lead a small team of staff, to assess and allocate work, resources and tasks, set work area priorities, manage workflows and ensure accurate completion of work within required timeframes.

They will also be accountable for identifying, treating, managing and communicating technical risks that affect the sustainment and aviation safety of the MH-60R and supporting and advocating use of and continuous improvement of the NASPO Engineering Management System.

Successful liaison and management of internal and external stakeholders at all levels is essential to the role, including both suppliers and customers. In particular, noting the US Navy provides a range of MH-60R engineering and technical services via Foreign Military Sales agreement, to enable NASPO to meet its obligations as outlined above, the successful applicants will be expected to monitor and liaise with their US counterparts and NASPO internal supervisor in relation to all actions and activities their team has assigned to the US Navy to ensure timely delivery of technical products/responses including configuration changes, publication and publication amendments, engineering investigation outcomes and engineering determinations.

- Be highly motivated and professional and work well in a fluid environment with often competing priorities by remaining open, flexible, agile and adaptable.
- Work effortlessly with a wide variety of internal and external suppliers, customers and key stakeholders to build and sustain key working relationships and achieve required outcomes.
- Have a demonstrated understanding of technical regulation principles and experience working within the Defence Aviation Safety Regulations (DASRz), or similar current or previous civilian/military regulatory systems (not limited to aviation).
- Demonstrate understanding of and/or have experience working within an engineering and/or technical quality management system.
- Have excellent analytical skills with the ability to develop and confidence to communicate both technical options and solutions and technical risks in response to complex technical issues.
- Have well-developed written and oral communication skills and computer literacy.
- Demonstrate a proven understanding of and/or have experience within the Aviation and/or Maritime domains.
- Encourage diversity of thought and ensure positive and professional workplace relationships and behaviours.
