Our Serious Injury Paralegal Role:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Paralegal to join our Serious Injury Team. The ideal candidate will assist a Lead Lawyer with all aspects of their cases, ensuring timely and efficient progression while maximizing damages and costs.
Key Responsibilities:
* Progress files in line with KPI targets
* Assist a Lead Lawyer on their cases to ensure matters are progressed in a timely and efficient manner
* Communicate with clients, experts, barristers, third party solicitors/insurers, police and other relevant parties as directed
* Deal with all pre and post issue procedures in a timely manner as directed
* Draft statements of case, witness statements, application notices, pleadings and instructions
* Prepare accurate and detailed file notes
* Help maintain case plans and summaries and take a proactive approach
* Research points of law in respect of liability and quantum and take responsibility for researching topics prior to undertaking allocated tasks to ensure accuracy
* Undertake and assist where appropriate telephone negotiations/case management conferences with solicitors/courts as directed
* Pursue cases to conclusion as directed
* Attend Court, Joint Settlement Meetings, Case Management Conferences and Conferences with or without Counsel
* Prepare trial bundles
* Assist with/preparing costs instructions sheets and disbursement lists
* Ensure excellent client care is maintained
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
* Good research and drafting skills
* Sound knowledge of the law surrounding serious injury and court procedure
* Good attention to detail, with file management and organisational skills
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Ability to adapt to diverse environments and quickly analyse complex information to make informed decisions
* IT competent
* Excellent time management and organisation skills
* Previous experience in personal injury departments preferred
* Flexibility in working hours and ability to travel required
* Excellent communication and client care skills
* Previous legal work experience in PI field
* Willingness to work with other teams across the business
* Engagement in networking and marketing events
* Buddying new team members to aid development
