How this role supports our work
Bequests are a vital and growing source of untied income for Australian Red Cross, supporting our long-term humanitarian mission. The Senior Specialist Bequests plays a key role in leading the implementation of the organisation's bequest stewardship and retention strategy, with a focus on deepening relationships, increasing income, and building a sustainable pipeline of future gifts.
Operating within a KPI-driven framework, the Senior Specialist applies a strategic lens to donor engagement, ensuring consistent, values-aligned communications and high-quality supporter experiences.
Collaboration is critical to success in this role. The Senior Specialist works closely with Fundraising Program Managers, the Philanthropy team, and other key stakeholders to identify high-potential prospects, coordinate cultivation activities, and contribute to the overall development and success of the Bequest portfolio.
What you will do day to day
* Work closely with the Senior Fundraising Manager to deliver the bequest program, contributing to the development and execution of growth and relationship strategies that drive long-term value.
* Provide exceptional, tailored relationship management to confirmed, intending, and considering bequest supporters. Deliver meaningful stewardship experiences that deepen connection and increase retention and conversion.
* Lead and support Specialist Bequests position(s), providing guidance, mentoring, and performance development to ensure high-quality supporter engagement and alignment with program goals.
* Manage the Bequest Living Pipeline, including moves management from enquiry through to confirmation. Maintain accurate and timely reporting, including weekly/monthly updates and program reforecasts.
* Steward supporters and enquirers through their bequest journey, ensuring they feel valued, informed, and supported in their decision to include Red Cross in their will.
* Maintain up-to-date and accurate records in the CRM and associated systems, ensuring comprehensive documentation of all bequestor interactions and commitments.
What you will bring
* Substantial experience in leading or mentoring a team, including setting priorities, providing guidance, and fostering a positive and high-performing team culture.
* Substantial experience in developing and implementing donor journeys or stewardship strategies that deliver personalised and values-aligned engagement.
* Intermediate understanding of Microsoft Office tools, such as outlook, word and excel as well as experience in working in various CRM systems
* Proven success in stewarding customers/donors
