The Department of Communities brings together the services and functions of disability services, child protection and family support, community initiatives and regional services reform.
The People Division is responsible for the provision of Human Resources. Supported by approximately 300 staff, the People Division is responsible for human resources, industrial relations, employee relations, safety and wellbeing, recruitment, workforce and payroll management and learning and development.
The Division focuses on releasing the full potential of staff through engagement, learning and development opportunities as well as ensuring the wellbeing of staff and promoting and upholding Communities' values.
Guided by Communities Learning and Development Framework, we are committed to developing a skilled, capable, compassionate and diverse workforce that provides responsive services and empowered communities. We facilitate learning journeys for a workforce of over 6000 people, foster and family carers, and sector agencies.
The People and Culture Division is seeking a Principal Learning and Development Consultant to join the Strategy and Quality team in the Learning and Development Directorate. In this pivotal role, you will lead the design and delivery of innovative training programs for the WA public sector, leveraging your expertise in corporate learning strategies and learning management systems. We are looking for someone with exceptional communication and relationship‑building skills, proven experience in planning and managing projects, and a passion for creating impactful learning pathways.
Opportunity
As the Principal Learning and Development Consultant, you will:
* lead the training needs analysis for Communities corporate training,
* provide leadership, advice and coordination on corporate training and the interface with the new public sector Skills Academy,
* design, develop, deliver, and evaluate complex and/or high‑level programs and initiatives,
* manage corporate training systems, processes and training records, including the requirements for The Skills Academy,
* foster collaboration with staff, stakeholders and training providers ensuring training service delivery builds relationships and achieves desired outcomes.

There is currently one permanent full‑time position available for immediate filling.
