Head of Staging - Mackay Entertainment & Convention Centre
An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced senior Staging and Rigging specialist to join the Technical Services team at the multi-award winning Mackay Entertainment & Convention Centre (MECC).
About the Venues
The Mackay Entertainment & Convention Centre is a state-of-the art multi-million dollar entertainment facility, consisting of many versatile event spaces including a 1,090 seat proscenium arch theatre, 100 seat studio space, two large plenary halls which when combined seat 1,500pax theatre style, 1,800 standing or 580 at banquet, four meeting rooms, two dedicated foyers, bars and extensive front and back of house facilities.
The BB Print Stadium is an exceptional versatile live entertainment and sporting event facility, consisting of a 1,516 seat grandstand, 200pax function room, twelve corporate boxes and six private suites. Capable of accommodating up to 15,000 in concert mode, or 5,800 for sporting events.
The venues provide a unique setting for banquets, conferences, exhibitions, seminars, sporting events and a wide variety of live performances.
The Role
The Mackay Entertainment & Convention Centre is seeking the services of a permanent fulltime experienced senior staging professional within our technical services department. The Head of Staging position will be responsible for administering all staging operations for the MECC and Events program and to a lesser degree BB Print Stadium. In this role, you will be responsible for supervision and training of technical staff and volunteers, as well as liaising with industry professionals and venue hirers.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* Demonstrated experience working as a staging and event rigging professional in a live event environment
* Great attention to detail and a commitment to safe work practices
* Experience supervising a team with the ability to provide effective direction, guidance and constructive feedback to staff and volunteers
* Experience managing and maintaining large stocks of staging and rigging equipment
* Current QLD 'C' Class Drivers Licence
* As this role provides advice to clients, hirers and the community and supervises staff and volunteers, you must have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
The position is permanent full-time. Applicants must be willing to partake in an any five (5) out of seven (7) roster including weekends and nights.
