About this role: The Project Planning Engineer has primary responsibility for planning and developing projects and programs of work to ensure that future capacity and service requirements are met.
This position plays a key role in supporting the development of an optimised 10-year program of work, by analysing system performance, forecasting demand and system requirements, and recommending sustainable, efficient, and cost effective projects and programs have robust business cases are developed.
Other Key Responsibilities Include:
* Lead the development of program and project initiation documentation including Concept Development Statements, User Requirements Specifications, Options Assessments and Business Cases to convert high level problem statements into a preferred and endorsed project option in readiness to hand to project delivery.
* Project Manage projects through the Envisage and Evaluate stages of the Investment Planning and Delivery (IPAD) process and engage key stakeholders and technical advisors, consultants and engineers as required to develop projects as appropriate, this may include technical studies, investigations, designs, workshops and data collection.
* Ensuring the quality and appropriateness of solutions proposed to the business by design engineers and consultants with due consideration of all options (including non-infrastructure solutions)
* Develop project cost estimates and risk assessments in conjunction with engineering, strategy, project delivery, finance, maintenance, operations and other key stakeholders.
* Manage project cost, schedules, risks and issues throughout the initiation stages (Envisage and Evaluate Stages)
* Provide input into designs, reports and advice such as options analysis, technical evaluation, constructability, cost and time estimates, risk, condition assessments as required
* Provide input into the development of the 10-year program of work to enable efficient and optimised delivery of the program.
* Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to obtain necessary project approvals and ensure a collaborative approach to optioneering of projects in the Evaluate Phase.
* Actively participate and promote health, safety, quality and environmental management within Icon Water.
* Other duties within the employee’s skill, competence and training.
Who we are looking for: We are looking for suitable candidates who hold relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering or Project Management (desirable).
You should also have the following experience:
* Knowledge of project management methodologies in line with the project management body of knowledge (PMBOK);
* Demonstrated sound knowledge of engineering and design processes (in water and wastewater assets preferable)
* Demonstrated experience (over 2 years) in Project Management, technical report writing and business case development roles.
* Site based project experience
* Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programs, including Microsoft Project.
