Position Overview
Council recognises the importance of strategic planning for our region and has invested in several strategic planning positions to plan the future growth of the area.
The purpose of the Strategic Planning Projects Coordinator role is to provide leadership in coordinating the delivery of services and projects required of the organisation's strategic land use planning function.
You'll Be Responsible For
Leading and coordinating strategic plans and projects to meet East Gippsland Shire Council's strategic priorities;Maintaining and developing a strong team approach based on customer service, organisational awareness, prioritisation and effective problem solving to ensure effective community outcomes are achieved.Coordinating the planning and delivery of urban growth in conjunction with developers, external agencies and internal stakeholders;Management of staff and external consultants in the planning and delivery of strategic planning projects;Leading the review, improvement and amendment of the East Gippsland Planning Scheme to meet East Gippsland Shire Council's strategic priorities.

What We Require From You (Key Selection Criteria)
Formal qualifications and demonstrated relevant experience.Proven knowledge and understanding of current strategic planning issues, particularly as that relates to the Local Government environment.Specialist knowledge in strategic planning processes and in particular in the development and implementation of strategies and policies.Demonstrated analytical, research and report writing skills as well as the ability to devise innovative solutions.Demonstrated high level project/program management skillsDemonstrated understanding of the land development sector including the economics of land developmentExcellent communication skills in the area of community engagement, stakeholder negoitations and working within a team environment.Demonstrated project management skills.Leadership, negotiation and human resource management skills.
If successful, you will need to undertake a police check. You must also be legally entitled to work in Australia.
This is a permanent, full-time opportunity, with the expectation that you attend the office 3 days per week. Relocation assistance may be considered for the right applicant.
