We're seeking a skilled and dynamic Robotics Controls Engineer to join our team. At Applied, you will play a crucial role in development, implementation, programming, testing, and commissioning of bespoke robotic automation cells. Your experience will contribute to the design, optimisation, and performance systems, enabling us to deliver transformative solutions to our partners and clients.
Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and optimise control algorithms for bespoke robotic systems. 3+ years experience with programming Industrial robots is essential. Design and integrate control systems for real-time operation, ensuring precise and efficient movement, sensing, and interaction. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical design engineers, control engineers, and the production teams, to ensure seamless integration into our bespoke robotic automation & control systems. Conduct simulations and testing to validate control algorithms, mechanical design, manipulator suitability and optimise performance to meet cycle time commitments. Troubleshoot and resolve control system issues, ensuring smooth operation and reliability. Stay updated with the latest advancements in robotics controls across multiple vendor platforms and identify opportunities for innovation and improvement. Document design processes, specifications, and develop technical reports. Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Strong background in robotics controls and demonstrated experience in developing control algorithms for robotic systems; experience with programming ABB robots is essential. Familiarity and experience with robotic hardware platforms, PLC programming (Rockwell, Siemens, Omron etc), sensors, and actuators. Solid understanding of control theory, including PID control, state-space control, and adaptive control. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex control system issues. Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in cross-functional teams. Experience with industrial automation, machine vision, or motion planning is desirable.
