Job Title: Data Science Chapter Lead
As a Data Science Chapter Lead, you will lead a team to support the development and management of AI and Machine Learning for business stakeholders serving Retail customers.
This role involves leading and mentoring data science and statistical modelling professionals to navigate the business and deliver high quality modelling solutions that improve customer outcomes.
Key areas include Machine Learning and Generative AI, where models help uplift customer experience through AI and ML capacity, and other areas where modelling and AI can add value to customer outcomes.
You'll work closely with key stakeholders, such as Portfolio teams, Finance and Group, to ensure modelling outcomes are accurate and aligned with the strategic direction of the business.

The Commonwealth Bank's Retail Banking Services (RBS) AI team leads the delivery of world-class capabilities to improve the financial well-being of our customers and communities.
We support multiple businesses within RBS through predictive models, creating insights to enable business decision making at a strategic and tactical level.
Your Role and Responsibilities:
1. Develop and manage key modelling assets, fostering a team vision and approach utilising state-of-the-art data science and statistical techniques.
2. Drive higher quality/efficient use of data through continuous process improvements.
3. Lead, mentor and guide junior data scientists in the team to deliver projects and outcomes for the business.
4. Present solutions to senior business and non-technical stakeholders.
5. Utilise data science and machine learning techniques in Python or R to drive model development solving key business problems.
6. Collaborate with business areas, including Product and Pricing, Line 1 risk, to provide implementable modelling and AI solutions.
7. Work with colleagues in the broader Data Science community to create a centre of excellence.
We're Looking For:
1. Excellent written & verbal communication skills to coordinate and influence senior cross-functional stakeholders.
2. Exceptional statistical / analytical / data science knowledge with ability to work in theoretical and practical analysis spaces.
3. Advanced technical skills - ability to generate actionable value-add insights using tools like Python, R, Spark, Teradata SQL.
4. A relevant tertiary qualification e.g. Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Econometrics, Computer Science or Engineering.
