We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Civil Engineer to grow their skills across roads, traffic, stormwater and development engineering – while being supported by experienced engineers in a collaborative local government environment.
What you'll be doing
This graduate position offers a supported pathway from study into professional engineering practice. With guidance and supervision, you'll gain experience by:
* Assisting with investigations into community and customer enquiries relating to council's infrastructure.
* Supporting feasibility studies, design input and cost estimates for civil and municipal projects.
* Helping assess asset condition and maintain accurate data within council's asset systems.
* Contributing to project delivery through tender preparation, minor works inspections and contract administration support.
* Undertaking site inspections and supporting construction oversight to ensure works meet design, safety and quality standards.
* Preparing technical reports, attending meetings and working with internal and external stakeholders.
What you'll bring
You're curious, motivated and ready to learn – with a strong interest in applying your engineering knowledge in a real-world setting. You'll bring:
* A degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent qualification).
* A genuine interest in civil design, construction and municipal infrastructure.
* Emerging experience or strong interest in project management and contract administration.
* The ability to prepare clear, practical technical reports for different audiences.
* Strong communication skills and a willingness to engage with stakeholders.
* Confidence using modern engineering and digital tools.
* A current National Police Check, a Tasmanian driver's licence and Construction Industry White Card.
