**Our Journey**

The Southern Melbourne Integrated Cancer Service (SMICS) is one of the eight Victorian Integrated Cancer Services that bring together healthcare providers and other cancer care stakeholders to develop, implement and evaluate initiatives that improve the way Victoria's health services provide care and support to people affected by cancer.

SMICS provides a network to improve the quality and continuity of patient care and ensures that appropriate links exist between health services to optimise patient pathways for persons affected by cancer. SMICS services south-east Melbourne, working across Alfred Health, Cabrini Health, Monash Health and Peninsula Health.

This is a three-year, fixed-term position, with the option to work full time (0.5 FTE) or part time (0.4 FTE). The SMICS team currently undertakes a blend of remote and office-based work at Moorabbin Hospital, which will continue for the foreseeable future.

**A Day in the Life**

The Communications Coordinator will work with members of the SMICS team and the SMICS member health services to deliver communication strategies that support the work of SMICS.This role will take responsibility for elements of the SMICS communications portfolios, specifically website and social media channel management, newsletter production, and promotional/educational media development.

This portfolio requires the ability to develop strong relationships with VICS communications colleagues and the VICS Statewide Coordinators, to support and promote statewide collaboration and continued alignment of the VICS values and messaging.Although experience within the healthcare setting is desirable, cancer-specific experience is not essential. This position will engage with health service staff across the SMICS catchment, and as such may be required to travel to various health services.

**Some key responsibilities include**:

- Manage the SMICS stakeholder database/CRM, ensuring data is kept up to date, and processes are in place to support consistent and professional stakeholder communication
- Provide a skilled service to internal and external service providers, partners and stakeholders, and develop and maintain strong relationships
- Identify opportunities for the promotion of SMICS projects, programs and outcomes
- Provide basic training and support to the SMICS team for the SMICS website in accordance with relevant policies and procedures to ensure that website content quality is maintained
- Management of SMICS website pages, working with the SMICS team to ensure information and resources are up to date
- Responsible for the maintenance of SMICS social media channels including LinkedIn, Twitter and YouTube
- Responsible for the production of educational and promotional media content for SMICS website and social media platforms in accordance with VICS Branding Guidelines and website policies
- Represent SMICS as a member of the VICS Website Users Group and VICS Communications Peer Group

**About you**:

- You have experience in website content management and maintenance
- You have experience in social media managements and production of content for varied audiences
- You have experience in developing videos, presentations and publications
- You are able to confidently explore and advise on the most appropriate media technology to produce engaging and modern resources
- You can demonstrate knowledge of communication within and between large, complex organisations
- You can demonstrate work experience in stakeholder management, and ability to adapt communication style as appropriate
- You are proficient in building and maintaining strong working relationships with stakeholders from various backgrounds, roles and disciplines
- You can demonstrate the ability to absorb complex information and re-present it simply
- You can demonstrate the ability to identify key points appropriate for different audiences and emphasise those effectively
- You have outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write and edit for a variety of mediums, with excellent attention to detail
- Experience in a cancer-related role and an understanding of the healthcare sector would be beneficial, but are not essential
- Experience with SurveyMonkey, MailChimp, Canva, Client Relationship Management (CRM) software would be beneficial

**What you need**:

- Appropriate qualification in Communications, Public Relations or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience
- Current Victorian driver's licence
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed
