Shelford Campus Opening in 2027 in the heart of Caulfield, Shelford Campus will be the newest Junior School of Caulfield Grammar School. The campus will initially offer exceptional education for Prep and Years 4–6, before progressively growing into a full Prep to Year 6 Junior School. This represents a once‑in‑a‑career opportunity for a founding teaching team to shape the culture and community from the ground up, delivering high‑impact learning in purpose‑built facilities.
The Role Commencing in Term 4, 2026, the Head of Learning Strategies will play a pivotal role in shaping inclusive, evidence‑based learning as Shelford Campus opens, embedding its values, culture and ways of working from the outset. Reporting to the Head of Campus and working closely with the Deputy Head of Campus, Campus Counsellor and Classroom Teachers, you will lead the Learning Strategies Team and oversee whole‑school approaches that support diverse learning needs, enabling all students to flourish academically, socially and emotionally. Through collaborative coaching, targeted interventions and evidence‑based practice, you will support inclusive, student‑centred teaching, while also leading enrichment and extension to challenge and inspire high‑potential learners.
This is an ongoing teaching contract, with a 3‑year person‑of‑record as Head of Learning Strategies, based at our new Shelford Campus.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and enhance teaching and learning for the campus, specifically related to special education and learning enhancement.
Lead and implement the school’s curriculum differentiation philosophy, overseeing Learning Strategies support, screening processes and individual learning plans across year levels.
Provide strategic oversight of Learning Strategies programs, including student records, NCCD data, timetabling, NAPLAN support and funding submissions.
Supervise, coach and support the Learning Strategies Team and Learning Assistants, including chairing meetings and supporting evidence‑based practice.
Work collaboratively with Campus Leadership, Student Wellbeing Team, counsellors and teachers to monitor student progress and coordinate targeted support or extension.
Liaise effectively with teachers, parents and external specialists to support student learning and wellbeing.
Teach flexibly within the Learning Strategies program through individual, small‑group and in‑class support.
Demonstrate visionary and team leadership through engagement with educational research, ICT, professional learning and active participation in school leadership and professional learning programmes.
Model and live the Caulfield Grammar School values and behaviours.
Skills and Qualifications
Teaching qualification with postgraduate qualification in Learning Needs.
Current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration.
First Aid – Level 2 and Anaphylaxis qualifications.
Experience supporting diverse educational needs in a Prep‑Year 6 learning environment.
Experience coordinating and managing differentiated learning programmes and creating and managing ILPs.
Experience managing multiple staff and coordinating support timetables.
Experience with the IB PYP Programme (advantageous).
Excellent time management and organisational skills.
