This role is critical in managing legal risk, supporting business objectives, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulatory frameworks.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide timely and pragmatic legal advice across the bank\'s operations, products, and regulatory obligationsAdvise on consumer credit matters under the National Credit Code and broader retail banking regulationReview product collateral and assess legal incidents or breaches, including regulator engagement (ASIC/APRA)Collaborate with internal stakeholders and manage relationships with external legal counselContribute to a high-performing, visible legal team that partners effectively with the businessWhat We\'re Looking ForA Senior lawyer with a strong grounding in financial services or banking law from a financial institution or mid/top tier law firmDemonstrated experience in consumer credit, retail banking regulation, and prudential standardsRetail banking credit experience under the National Credit CodeADI deposit-taking regulation and operations experience is a plusSolid understanding of prudential standards and APRA requirementsASIC/APRA engagement, breach reporting regimesKnowledge of the Customer Owned Banking Code of Practice is a plusCulture & FitOur client is building a high-calibre legal team defined by integrity, responsiveness, and commercial acumen.
