About the Role – Senior AV Technician
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Senior AV Technician in our Sydney office, with a strong technical background across LED walls, TV displays, audio systems, and event lighting. This is a hands-on leadership role, combining technical operation, crew supervision, warehouse coordination, and logistics management.
You’ll be involved across the entire event process – from gear preparation and vehicle loading to on-site setup, operation, and pack down of equipment. You’ll also take a lead role in managing our equipment and projects through our inventory management system "Rentman", ensuring assets are accurately tracked and deployed.
This role suits someone who thrives on variety, is confident making decisions in the field, and is committed to delivering smooth and professional AV outcomes for every client.
Key Responsibilities
·Oversee the preparation and testing of all AV equipment including LED screens, televisions, PA systems, radio microphones, switchers, lighting fixtures, rigging, and cabling.
·Manage warehouse workflows including maintenance, storage, and correct handling of gear.
·Plan and lead pack lists and truck loads for each job using Rentman software.
On-Site Execution
·Lead the setup, operation, and pack down of AV systems at venues, ensuring safe and efficient deployment.
·Supervise and support AV crew and subcontractors during installation and pack down stages.
·Operate and troubleshoot live systems during events, ensuring the highest level of performance.
·Maintain safe work practices and ensure compliance with venue policies and WHS standards.
Crew and Logistics Coordination
·Liaise with internal teams to plan crew rosters and allocate appropriate resources.
·Coordinate transport schedules, delivery requirements, and site access logistics.
·Communicate clearly with clients, production managers and venue staff to ensure smooth execution.
Inventory & Software Management
·Utilise Rentman for gear allocation, asset tracking, crew scheduling, and job documentation.
·Ensure return of all equipment post-event, and manage post-job gear inspections and repairs if needed.
·Mentor junior technicians and casual crew members, sharing knowledge and ensuring consistent standards.
·Identify opportunities for process improvement across warehousing, logistics, and job execution.
About You
·Minimum 5 years’ experience in the AV industry, including direct involvement in setup, live operation, and pack down of LED, audio, video, and lighting gear.
·Technically competent across all major AV disciplines, with a hands-on and solutions-oriented approach.
·Confident leading a team, managing timelines, and solving issues on the fly.
·Skilled in using Rentman or similar inventory/project software (preferred).
·Strong communication, time management, and client service skills.
·Current driver’s licence essential and mandatory. Forklift, EWP and White Card highly regarded.
·Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and occasional interstate travel.
What We Offer
·A supportive, people-first culture with a close-knit team.
·The chance to work on exciting, large-scale projects across multiple sectors.
·Access to leading-edge technology and a highly respected equipment inventory.
·Career progression opportunities in technical direction, operations, or project management.
