About the role

Commencing 19 January 2026. Closing Date for applications – 1 December 2025. The College reserves the right to shortlist and appoint prior to closing date. An extension may also be applied at the College's discretion.

Responsibilities

- Use judgement and discretion to work cooperatively with teachers, liaise with other internal stakeholders and be self‑directed from time to time to support teaching and learning at the College and enable best outcomes for student learning.
- Provide instruction to students, differentiated for all English abilities. Modify content, proof tasks, provide feedback and supplementary materials, while acknowledging cultural differences.
- Apply judgement and discretion to the planning and implementation of engaging tutorial sessions that break down challenging concepts into simple concepts.
- Work from teachers’ programs and plans to develop frameworks for providing instruction to students in individual and/or small group settings by:
- Preparing, collecting or developing teaching resources.
- Setting up activities, equipment, classroom/department displays.
- Participating in teaching activities under the direction of the teacher.
- Assisting with monitoring programs for students.
- Withdrawing students to work on tasks provided by the classroom teacher, pre‑teach concepts or revisit concepts students haven’t consolidated.
- Providing administrative support with setting up and managing documentation, photocopying, and laminating.
- Using a variety of assistive technology to enhance student learning.
- Assisting with pastoral care of the students.
- Supporting an online learning environment by assisting with updating and managing the Learning Management System and sourcing relevant and useful teaching and learning resources.

- Sensitively monitor and assess students, and in consultation with teachers, Head of Department and the Executive Director of International Education, make adjustments to assessments, criteria and reports as appropriate.
- Participate in reflective learning opportunities such as coaching, performance conversations and annual individualised planning discussions.
- Manage data, lists and reports across Microsoft Office and TASS software.
- Advise the English faculty on adjustments required across assessments and reporting frameworks, including preparing assessment scaffolds and model/sample responses for the QCAA suite of senior English courses, to support the delivery of the course managed by an academic staff member.
- Monitor student progress and support the Student Code of Conduct, guided by the Executive Director of International Education or as delegated.

What do I need for the role?

- TESOL, ELICOS, EOL or similar qualification.
- Experience working closely with an English faculty, including understanding of QCAA suite of senior English courses and ability to assess against the NLLIA ESL Bandscales as well as other English proficiency scoring systems (IELTS, TOEFL, CEFR etc).
- Demonstrated ability to work with online learning environments / learning management systems / school databases to develop, deliver and monitor learning outcomes.
- Ability to develop positive, empathetic, cooperative relationships with colleagues and students.
- A proactive and professional approach that demonstrates initiative, flexibility and a high level of motivation.

Mandatory Clearances/Certifications

- Blue Card, in accordance with ‘No Card, No link, No Start’, as per the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000.
