About therole:
TheCommercial and Governance Team provides commercial advice oncontracts or other agreements, governance, general compliance andadministrative policy matters, coordinates legal advice from CrownSolicitors office (CSO), and delivers the Department's riskmanagement, performance reporting, and Enterprise Planningfunctions.
As thePrincipal Adviser, Commercial and Governance you will provideadvice and oversight across legal, commercial, governance, andcompliance matters to support the Department's strategicobjectives and enterprise-wide performance.
Morespecifically, you will:
* Provide high-leveladvice to the Chief Executive, Executive Leadership, and seniorstakeholders on commercial agreements and other contractualarrangements, legislation, policy, and governance or complianceframeworks and requirements.
* Oversee theDepartment's legal services function, includingengagement with the Crown Solicitor's Office and externallegal providers.
* Leadthe development, implementation, and continuous improvement ofgovernance, compliance, and process frameworks.
* Support majorreviews and reforms that enhance the Department'sstrategic risk management and corporate governance.
* Mentor and guidestaff and leaders across the Department on complex legal,policy, and governance matters to build internal capability andsupport informed decision-making.
KeyCompetencies:
Tosucceed in this role, you will be a trusted advise, able todemonstrate:
* Deepunderstanding of legal practices and the ability to apply legalconcepts in a strategic and practical context.
* Significantexperience in commercial and contractual matters, includinggrants, KPIs, and contract variations.
* Proven ability tointerpret and apply complex legislation and legaladvice.
* Demonstrated successin developing and embedding governance frameworks andcompliance systems.
* Exceptionalcommunication and negotiation skills, with the ability toinfluence and engage at all levels.
* High-leveljudgement, discretion, and integrity in managing sensitive andhigh-impact issues.
Remuneration:
Competitive salary willbe offered as $121,107 to $125, 679 pa plussuperannuation

* Thisposition will be offered as a full-time, 12-month contractposition,
