The Dual Diagnosis Practitioner is required to provide support to people experiencing co-occurring alcohol and other drug use and mental health issues. The Dual Diagnosis Practitioner is responsible for assessing clients, managing risk, educating, providing appropriate treatment, and case management to individuals with complex needs. This position will deliver services within a recovery framework to facilitate healing and improve the wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Under the guidance of the SEWB team leader, the role involves collaboration with Swan Hill Mental Health Services, particularly concerning consumers requiring hospital admission for acute management.

Key Selection Criteria:

Ability to provide services within a Recovery-based Case Management Framework.
Demonstrated assessment skills with evidence-based intervention strategies.
Develop and maintain local networks for formal referral pathways.
Use knowledge and experience to develop and monitor performance systems.
Assist in developing standards to evaluate program relevance, timelines, costs, and client satisfaction.
Ability to work independently and under direction, demonstrating problem-solving skills.
Principles of involving consumers and carers in treatment decisions.
Organizational skills to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality outputs, adapting to demand and crises.
Understanding stakeholder needs and negotiating solutions.
Effective communication with consumers, carers, and external agencies.
Skills in counselling and group presentation.
Commitment to inclusive services for Aboriginal people and cultural learning.

Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications include Certificate IV in Community Services, AOD, or Mental Health, with relevant experience. Completion of the four core competencies for the AOD sector is required or willingness to complete within 12 months.
Other Screening Requirements:

Current Driver’s License valid in Australia.
Employee Working with Children Check card.
National Police Check.
COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate & Booster or medical exemption.
