Role Details:
The Department for Child Protection is offering an excellent development opportunity for someone looking to build a career in human resources, employee relations, investigations, law or public administration. Based in Adelaide, the Assistant Employee Relations and Investigations Officer works within the People and Culture Directorate and supports experienced practitioners across ER and Investigations. You will gain exposure to misconduct matters, case coordination, reporting, documentation and stakeholder engagement. This role is ideal for someone eager to learn, contribute to safe and fair workplace processes and develop their skills in a supportive, fast paced environment.
In this role, you will
* Assist with coordinating non-complex staff conduct matters and support the resolution of workplace issues under the guidance of senior team members.
* Draft routine correspondence such as investigation notices, information requests and general enquiries, and help manage the Employee Relations mailbox by triaging and escalating urgent matters.
* Maintain accurate tracking registers, case management databases and documentation, and prepare summary reports, dashboards and progress updates for senior leaders.
* Support workplace investigations by conducting background research, collating and organising documentation, and assisting with minute taking and basic record keeping.
* Provide general administrative coordination including filing, meeting scheduling, processing operational requests and managing sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
To be successful
You will be someone who is motivated to build a foundation in human resources, employee relations and investigations. Strong written skills, attention to detail and a willingness to learn will be important as you assist with correspondence, case tracking and documentation that supports procedural fairness and safe practice across DCP.
You will bring curiosity, professionalism and the ability to work respectfully with colleagues and stakeholders. Being organised, adaptable and confident using Microsoft Office programs will help you manage competing tasks in a fast paced and supportive environment. This role is ideal for someone starting their HR journey who wants hands on experience and ongoing guidance.
