Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
* 7 years of experience in public affairs, government relations, or policy advocacy.
Preferred Qualifications
* Comprehensive knowledge of Australian digital economic policy, tech regulatory landscape, and the unique political dynamics of frontier markets.
* Ability to manage high‐stakes, fast‐moving programs and anticipate future policy impacts in a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape.
* Ability to translate complex research into emotionally resonant content and visual assets (infographics, video) that shift regional narratives.
* Ability to leverage a strong professional network of Key Opinion Formers (KOFs), academics, and industry councils across Australia.
About the Job
As a member of Google's Government Affairs and Public Policy team, you'll be part of a global government affairs team, working across regions, product areas, and functions. You'll combine creativity and intellectual excellence with the organizational skills to manage various campaigns, projects and initiatives. In this role, you'll advocate for Google to bring external perspectives back into the company to inform our perception and direction. Google takes its responsibilities seriously, including engaging with government and other stakeholders on important public policy challenges. The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company's engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third‐parties in the formation of public policy. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others' views and opinions, and distill and share the company's perspective on those issues with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.
Responsibilities
* Drive the development and execution of Australia's strategic public affairs direction, owning end‐to‐end workstreams for high‐priority policy programs and advocacy campaigns.
* Achieve Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) objectives through seamless cross‐functional collaboration with marketing, communications, and Google organization to amplify our impact.
* Align local Australian priorities with global strategic investments, providing the data‐driven insights needed to guide resource allocation and shape long‐term goals.
* Represent the region in key cross‐functional forums, ensuring that strategy is grounded in credible external policy dynamics and research insights.
* Craft strategic messaging and high‐impact content for executive engagements and public platforms, elevating Google's presence at forums, workshops, and summits.
