Are you an experienced finance professional looking to take ownership of the financial operations for a growing property development and construction group? We are partnering with a highly respected business in the property sector to recruit a Financial Controller who will play a pivotal role in driving financial performance and strategic growth.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Director, you will oversee all accounting and finance operations across the business, working closely with Sales, Operations, and Construction teams. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll manage the accounts department, ensure compliance, and provide strategic financial insights to support business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and mentor the accounts team, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations.
* Oversee payroll compliance and internal controls.
* Manage treasury functions including cash flow planning and risk management.
* Prepare budgets, rolling forecasts, and monitor project budgets.
* Deliver accurate monthly management reports and year-end statutory reporting.
* Ensure compliance with tax obligations (Income Tax, GST, FBT, Payroll Tax) and building licence requirements.
* Maintain strong relationships with financiers, external accountants, and tax advisers.
* Drive cost reduction initiatives and improve bottom-line performance.
* Assist with acquisitions and strategic business planning.
* Monitor build costs, margins, and overheads to optimise profitability.
About You To succeed in this role, you will bring:
* Proven experience in a similar financial leadership role.
* Background in property development or construction industry.
* Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
* High attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
* Proficiency in MS Office and accounting/project management software.
* Ability to work autonomously and make sound decisions.
