as an Aboriginal Foster Care support Worker
This opportunity would suit someone with the relevant background and experience in foster care support work who is looking for role in Taree NSW
Key responsibilities:
Provide culturally appropriate support to Aboriginal children and young people in foster care
Work closely with foster carers to ensure they have the tools and guidance needed to provide quality care
Advocate for the rights and wellbeing of Aboriginal children in care
Facilitate connection to culture, community, and Country
Collaborate with caseworkers, families, and community organisations
Assist in the recruitment, training, and retention of Aboriginal foster carers
SELECTION CRITERIA
1. Aboriginality
2. Knowledge of the Child and Young Persons Care and Protections Act *****) and current out of home care legislation.
3. Understanding of issues in Out of Home Care for Aboriginal children, and young people, families, and foster carers, including unique challenges for Aboriginal carers.
4. Relevant qualifications or extensive demonstrated experience in Aboriginal Child Protection.
5. Strong report writing skills and communication skills.
6. Conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
8. Experience in Community Development particularly in recruiting Aboriginal Foster Carers.
9. Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team
10. Proven ability to liaise with relevant government and non-government agencies.
11. Competence in maintaining accurate files, data, and reports.
12. Ability to participate in on-call services after hours.
13. Flexibility to work across Out-of-Home Care teams.
14. Knowledge of the principles of WHS, Equal Opportunity, Ethical practices, and quality improvement.
15. Current NSW Driver's License.
1. Experience working in an Aboriginal Corporation.
2. Understanding of The Office of Children's Guardian and Out of Home Care Standards.
