This is a fantastic opportunity to join a long-established Western Australian organisation. Operating with a lean internal structure, the organisation is entering a new phase of maturity and complexity. With increasing financial, governance, regulatory and reporting requirements, there is now a clear focus on strengthening internal capability and establishing an in-house finance function.
This appointment will be critical in supporting the organisation's ongoing financial management, governance and decision-making. The role is offered on a part-time basis, three days per week, with genuine flexibility around working days and hours.
The Position:
Reporting to the CEO and board, the Financial Controller will take ownership of the organisation's finance function and be responsible for establishing the systems, processes, controls and reporting disciplines required to support a high-value, low-headcount operating model.
Key responsibilities include:
* Establishing and managing the internal finance function, including financial policies, procedures, controls and reporting frameworks.
* Preparing annual budgets, periodic reforecasts, management accounts, variance analysis and Board-level financial reporting.
* Managing statutory reporting, audit processes, tax compliance and relationships with external advisors.
* Overseeing cashflow, treasury, banking relationships, dividend calculations and related financial reconciliations.
* Managing accounts payable, payroll administration, reimbursements, supplier data and financial controls.
* Supporting financial modelling, forecasting and analysis linked to income streams, asset performance and market assumptions.
* Leading the review and implementation of appropriate finance, payroll and reporting systems.
* Providing trusted financial advice to the relevant stakeholders on financial, commercial, compliance and governance matters.
The role will suit someone who enjoys building capability, improving systems and bringing structure to a complex but lean environment. While the position is part-time, it requires a senior finance professional who can operate with autonomy, sound judgement and strong ownership.
About You
You will be a senior, qualified finance professional with strong technical capability, commercial judgement and the confidence to operate independently.
Candidates from a range of sectors will be considered. You may have experience as a Financial Controller, Senior Finance Manager, CFO or Senior Accountant, including within professional services, and bring exposure to complex structures, investment, resources, asset-heavy or privately held environments.
You will bring:
* CA or CPA qualification, supported by a tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
* Strong experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, audit and compliance.
* Well-developed technical knowledge across Australian tax, GST, FBT, payroll tax and statutory obligations.
* Experience implementing or improving finance systems, processes and internal controls.
* Advanced Excel, financial modelling and analytical capability.
* The ability to prepare clear, accurate and meaningful reporting for senior stakeholders and Boards.
* High attention to detail, strong personal accountability and the ability to work autonomously.
* A practical, hands-on style suited to a small, discreet and high-trust environment.
This opportunity may appeal to an experienced finance professional seeking a meaningful, senior-level part-time role with flexibility, autonomy and the opportunity to establish a finance function from the ground up.
