Synergie Australia are currently seeking qualified Heavy Vehicle Mechanics to join our clients team on a defence base in Darwin NT. This is an ongoing opportunity with the potential for permanency for the right candidate.

About the Role
Reporting to the Technical Supervisor, you will perform all trade-related tasks associated with the maintenance and repair of vehicles, plant and equipment.
You will work on a wide range of heavy military vehicles and equipment including:
* 4WD vehicles
* Heavy trucks
* Tracked and armoured vehicles
* Earthmoving equipment
* Generators, pumps, compressors and drilling rigs
This role involves routine servicing, diagnostics, overhauls and repairs of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct maintenance, inspection and classification tasks in line with Work Orders and required standards
* Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults
* Service and overhaul engines, transmissions, differentials and suspension systems
* Repair and maintain hydraulic systems
* Diagnose, overhaul, repair and maintain diesel-powered vehicles
* Test and repair braking systems (including electronic brakes)
* Conduct roadworthiness inspections
* Perform welding tasks (Oxy, ARC, TIG and MIG as required)
* Complete job cards and documentation in the Commonwealth Mandated Information System
* Manage issued parts and consumables
* Provide technical feedback and advice to operators
* Identify and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Work Schedule
* Monday – Thursday: 7:30am – 4:00pm
* Friday: 7:30am – 2:00pm
* 38 hours per week (7.6 hours per day)
* Immediate start available
Mandatory Requirements
* Certificate III in Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent)
* Heavy Vehicle qualification only (Light Vehicle not accepted)
* Australian Citizenship
* Police Check (valid within 28 days) or willing to obtain
* Academic transcript required prior to offer
Preferred (Desirable)
* Heavy Rigid (HR) Licence
* Defence experience (highly regarded but not essential)
* Ability to work both independently and within a team
