The Library Technician guides and supports our students in using library resources.
Role Purpose
The Library Technician is a member of a Library team who provide a safe, comfortable, and inviting learning environment that enhances digital and information literacy, resources the curriculum, and supports students to become critical, creative and collaborative thinkers and ultimately independent learners who can locate, evaluate and use information efficiently and effectively.
Key Duties
The Library Technician supports students and staff and is responsible for:
* Library Operations
* Cataloguing and Collection Management
* Textbook hire
* Technology Management and Audio-Visual Resources
Key Skills and Competencies
The successful candidate will have:
* Qualifications in Library and/or Information Services (or have equivalent experience)
* Professional membership of The Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) is desirable.
* A current positive Blue Card to work with children.
* Experience in cataloguing a wide range of library resources and equipment, with a working understanding of established library cataloguing practices and procedures.
* An ability to communicate effectively and calmly to create a supportive learning environment.
* Experience in financial and operational library management, including budgets and any associated record keeping.
* A working knowledge of relevant digital databases or Learning Management Software.
* A willingness to reflect the School’s goals about Faith, Intellectual Values, Community, Social Awareness and Personal Growth.

Hours of Work
This is a permanent part time role working 35 hours per week during school term time. The Library Services team operates to an agreed roster to cover the Library’s operating hours. The roster for this role requires finishing times of 6.00pm Monday to Thursday and 4:30pm on Friday (during school terms) .
