The Faculty of Health is dedicated to being at the forefront of teaching, learning, creativity, social development, and groundbreaking research and discovery. We work closely with industry partners and government bodies to translate discoveries into real-word impact. This role will specifically be working within the School of Medicine.

About the role:

The Lecturer in Medical Education will teach within the Doctor of Medicine program, in addition to broader contributions to the program through scholarship in their area of expertise. The appointee will promote the School and establish and maintain links and partnerships with the academic, industry and professional communities. The appointee will make an independent contribution to the School and Faculty's teaching, research, program development, and relevant service activities.

They will work collaboratively with unit teaching teams and other unit teaching teams in the course at Waurn Ponds campus and the rural clinical schools to develop effective unit curricula and learning resources and coordinate the Years 1-2 clinical placement program.

This position is suited to a person with an emerging record and passion for learning and teaching, and a keen interest in contributing to community engagement for teaching and employability.

As a Lecturer in Medical Education, Education-focused, you will:

* Demonstrate excellent scholarly learning and teaching across the foundational years of the degree, and various modes (including for example the cloud and in clinical settings).
* Contribute to the review of units and courses and implement refinements.
* Demonstrate emerging reputation in the scholarship of teaching and educational development through independent contribution to pedagogical research activity and publication in learning and teaching, including testing the effectiveness of innovations designed to improve student and graduate outcomes including graduate employment.
* Assist in integrating new pedagogical research across all aspects of education.
* Demonstrate evidence of a developing profile in the scholarship of teaching and educational development, high levels of discipline-related expertise and pedagogical knowledge and/or evidence of contribution to discipline-based research.

To be successful, you'll have:

* PhD in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications in a relevant health professional discipline.
* Current AHPRA registration preferable
* Demonstrated ability to contribute effectively to UG or PG teaching programs in medical education in a manner that influences, motivates, and inspires students to learn (preferably with experience in teaching clinical reasoning, clinical practice and clinical communication skills)
* Demonstrated passion for teaching and learning
* Experience in contributing to the development of curricula and educational resources that reflect an understanding of the clinical medicine landscape and emerging practices in medical education
* Demonstrated ability to contribute to assessment programs and provide feedback that fosters independent learning
* Ability to utilise varied modes of teaching, teaching resources and technology to cater for all learners both face-to-face and at the bedside in a technology enhanced contemporary higher education learning environment
* Capacity to be an effective member of a research team, facilitate and conduct research, and prepare high-quality written work
* Ability to deliver effective teaching practices to improve student success and engagement.
