Overview Brunel is recruiting an experienced Senior Cost Engineer as part of the Central Cost Team responsible for managing overall portfolio cost across Feasex, Capex, Abex and Epex for a major Oil & Gas Operator in Brisbane.
This 12-month contract ensures accurate forecasting, cost control and reporting to support strategic decision-making and project delivery.
Responsibilities Lead the development and maintenance of cost reporting dashboards using Power BI, applying advanced DAX to support project performance tracking, variance analysis and executive-level reporting Prepare and present monthly cost reports, including earned value analysis Support change management processes Monitor project expenditures and commitments against approved budgets and funding Collaborate with estimating teams to validate and benchmark cost estimates Align cost data with project schedules and planning outputs Ensure compliance with internal controls, governance frameworks, and contractual obligations Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance or related field Experience in Cost Engineering within complex project environments, ideally across Oil & Gas, Mining, Infrastructure or Energy sectors Advanced proficiency in Power BI including DAX for data modeling and analytics Proficiency in cost management tools – SAP, Prism, EcoSys or similar Strong analytical skills and attention to detail Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities Familiarity with project controls standards (e.g. AACE, PMI or equivalent) Experience in both capital and brownfields projects preferable Knowledge of contract management and procurement processes – preferable Professional certification – CCP, PMP is a plus Experience with Azure SQL for data integration and reporting desirable Benefits Excellent negotiable day rate Salary sacrificing options Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Corporate discounts Brunel is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and encourages applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and female candidates.
